Remembering Derek Young

Derek was so many things to so many people and he will be remembered deeply and fondly by all the people whose lives he touched.
An informal gathering to celebrate his life was held on the lawn behind Village Café in Nottingham Road at 3pm on Sunday, 22 March 2026.

Across his many hospitality roles, he was the consummate professional. He transformed the act of hosting into an art form - ensuring every guest felt seen, heard, welcomed, and truly at home.
Friend
With a beautiful heart and a legendary wit, Derek was loved by many. He had a rare gift for connection, changing the lives of everyone he touched with his warmth and spirit.
